Reading comprehension ( 25 marks )

Q1: Read the following two text .then answer the questions

A ) John’s father , David, is an engineer .He lives in Baghdad with his

family . He bought an expensive car last year .His daughter Jane is

studying medicine at the moment .His son likes the army so much that

he works hard to became a good officer in future. (10 marks)

Now , try to find the correct answer:

1-David was a ------- man . ( sad – rich – happy – poor )

2-David was John’s ------- ( son – father – daughter – brother)

3-Jane will became --------( an engineer – a student – an officer –a

doctor)

4-David’s family lives in ------- ( France –Iraq –England- Italy )

B \ when I was a boy . I like swimming very much . One day my brothers

and I spent the summer holidays with my uncle and aunt in their house

by the sea .It was only twenty yards from the water . Every day we put

on our swimming shorts before breakfast , ran down to the sea across

the sand and jumped in .from then until late at night, we were in the sea

or on beach most of the time .when our aunt rang a bell, we went back to

the house for food, but we late it in our swimming shorts and were soon

back in the sea again .

Describe whether these statements are true ( T ) or false (F ) ( 15 marks)

1- The boys’ home was near the sea

2-Their aunt rang a bell to call them for food.

3-The boy and his brothers spent the holiday by the sea.

4-They put on their swimming shorts before every meal.

5- After having the food, they slept on the beach.

they can visit , things they can do , where they can eat

2- A short of unusual journey . Answer to the following questions to help

you .

Where did you go last week ? How did you travel? What did you do ?

What was unusual about the journey ?

Did you enjoy your self?
